House confirms congressman, staff writer test positive for COVID-19
A congressman and a House of Representatives staff writer have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections in the lower chamber to 21.
Representative Samier A. Tan (1st District of Sulu) last reported to the Batasang Pambansa on May 18 and is currently asymptomatic and home-quarantined in Sulu.
A Committee Publication Staff Writer, who last reported to work on July 8, also tested positive after developing fever and cold symptoms, and is under home quarantine.
Additionally, a House member's consultant tested positive after visiting the House on July 14 and 15, and is currently in home isolation.
Contact tracing is ongoing for these new cases.
All attendees of President Duterte's State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday will be required to undergo swab and rapid tests for COVID-19.
