2 DPWH engineers killed in Kidapawan ambush

Two Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) engineers, identified as Mohammad Jalaluddin Mandangan and Benhur Piang, were killed in an ambush in Kidapawan City on Friday, March 14.

The victims, who were ranking employees at the DPWH-12 2nd District Engineering Office, were traveling in a white Toyota Hilux pickup truck on their way to their office after a Friday noon prayer.

Gunmen on motorcycles opened fire on their vehicle, with Mandangan, the driver, sustaining a fatal headshot and crashing the pickup into an electric post.

Another DPWH employee in the vehicle sustained minor injuries, while two other passengers escaped unharmed by jumping out of the truck during the attack.

Kidapawan City police chief Lt. Col. Dominador Palgan Jr. stated that the investigation is ongoing, and police are pursuing suspects.

Cotabato Governor Emmylou Taliño-Mendoza has urged Lt. Col. Palgan and Cotabato Police Director Col. Gilberto Tuzon to collaborate on identifying the perpetrators.
