1Sambayan continues search for presidential bet

The opposition coalition 1Sambayan is still searching for its presidential bet for the 2022 elections and has met with Vice President Leni Robredo, former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, and Senator Manny Pacquiao.

These consultations aim to ensure their chosen candidate possesses good character, capability, and an excellent track record.

1Sambayan aims to promote unity for a "unity ticket" to challenge the candidate endorsed by the Duterte administration.

Moreno and Pacquiao have already declared their presidential candidacies, while Robredo has yet to announce her plans.

Trillanes has stated he will run for president if Robredo does not.

Retired Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio, a convenor of 1Sambayan, previously denied that unity talks had failed, emphasizing that the political landscape can still change.

1Sambayan remains hopeful in uniting anti-administration forces for the 2022 elections.
