DOTr drug tests 200 bus drivers at PITX, all negative

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) conducted random drug tests on 200 bus drivers and conductors at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) on Wednesday.

All drivers and conductors tested negative for illegal drugs.

A motorcyclist who voluntarily submitted to a drug test, however, tested positive.

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) confiscated the motorcyclist's license pending confirmatory test results from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

DOTr Acting Secretary Giovanni Lopez stated that drivers who test positive in confirmatory tests will have their licenses automatically canceled and revoked, with the findings turned over to the police and PDEA.

Lopez assured the public that all transportation facilities are on heightened alert and prepared for the expected surge in travelers during Undas.

He also mentioned the agency's intention to make random drug testing a regular policy in various locations, not just during holidays, to ensure passenger safety.
