15-year-old rescues over 50 from floodwaters in Liloan, Cebu

Fifteen-year-old Jayboy Magdadaro heroically rescued over 50 individuals from floodwaters caused by Typhoon Tino in Liloan, Cebu, using a small boat and his skimboarding experience to navigate treacherous conditions.

Magdadaro was motivated by the cries of those in need, despite his mother's instructions to return to their evacuation shelter.

In recognition of his bravery, Magdadaro received scholarship grants from the Liloan local government and Barangay Mabolo, a plaque of recognition, a P3,000 monthly allowance, clothing, and a new phone.

Typhoon Tino caused significant damage in Liloan, primarily due to the overflowing of the Cotcot River, leading to widespread flooding.
