13 Chinese nationals nabbed for illegal mining in Eastern Samar
Thirteen Chinese nationals were apprehended on Homonhon Island in Eastern Samar for illegally working in two separate mining sites.
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported that 11 of the arrested individuals were working for a company different from the one specified on their working visas.
One of the apprehended Chinese nationals held a retiree's visa, while another was found to be an overstaying alien.
The BI, in coordination with the PAOCC and AFP, arrested the Chinese nationals on October 30.
All arrested individuals are currently in the custody of PAOCC, and deportation cases are being initiated against them.
BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado stated that illegal employment undermines local laws and communities, assuring that the bureau is committed to addressing such cases to protect the country's borders and environment.
