1,100 PGH health workers contract COVID-19

As of January 14, at least 1,100 healthcare workers at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) have contracted COVID-19.

This figure represents a significant increase from the 308 infected healthcare workers during the September surge.

The surge in infections has led to manpower shortages, with some nurses attending to 18 patients or working 16-hour shifts.

Most COVID-19 infections among PGH healthcare workers are mild cases.

PGH is not yet adopting the shortened quarantine and isolation policy for infected health workers, maintaining a 10-day isolation period.

However, they have adjusted quarantine for fully vaccinated and asymptomatic close contacts, allowing them to return to work with daily symptom monitoring.
