11 vloggers face contempt rap for snubbing House probe

Eleven social media personalities, including former PCO Secretary Atty. Trixie Cruz-Angeles and former NTF-ELCAC spokesperson Lorraine Marie Badoy-Partosa, face potential contempt and detention for repeatedly snubbing the House Tri Committee's probe into online disinformation.

The Tri Committee issued subpoenas to these individuals after their non-appearance in earlier hearings, including a second missed date on February 18.

Many of the absentees cited a petition for certiorari before the Supreme Court as their reason for not attending.

The committee noted that these individuals have been vocal supporters of former President Rodrigo Duterte and critics of the current administration.

House committee on public order and safety chair and Laguna Rep. Dan Fernandez stated that disinformation is a national security issue that erodes public trust, destabilizes institutions, and manipulates democratic discourse.

The committee will continue its investigation and warned that the vloggers' continued defiance could lead to detention.
